Location: Bouaké, Côte d’Ivoire

Term: February 2021- October 2022 (In progress)

Funded by: Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation

To counteract the violation of the right to health, we proposed a project to improve access to health, focusing on the user community of the Health and Maternity Centre of the outlying district of Kotiakró in Bouaké, the second largest city in Côte d’Ivoire, home to 96,652 people.

  • Awareness and training. Training in sexual, maternal and child health and training in contagion-prevention measures for the recent SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
  • Reinforcement of the training of the centre’s health personnel with the collaboration of members of the medical staff of the Hospital Sant Joan de Déu in Barcelona:
    • Protocol for management and response in cases of Covid-19; respiratory diseases in children, detection of hypoxia (low blood oxygen concentration), treatment with medical oxygen, reproductive health (management of pregnancy and childbirth)
  • Raising awareness among the Catalan population of the right to health.
