The current champion of the America’s Cup, the New Zealand Team, has settled in one of the buildings at the Port of Barcelona to conduct their training for the competition to be held in 2024. The building’s adaptation to the team involves many improvements.
This renovation not only seeks to adapt the space for the team’s training needs but also incorporates advanced sustainable solutions, such as the solar installation on the roof that will allow savings on electricity costs. We designed an east-west structure to maximize space and cover more solar hours.
We’ve implemented engineering solutions to ensure the structure’s resistance against wind forces, using specialized tensioners. The building is exposed to maritime wind gusts, and it was essential to ensure proper anchoring of the solar panels.
