Project Description:
This project involved a detailed assessment of the solar system and electrical infrastructure at the Methodist Nixon Memorial Hospital in Segbwema, Sierra Leone. Conducted by Mireia Gil from Azimut 360 and commissioned by Dr. Chetana Nandanwar, the main goal was to identify and address issues affecting the hospital’s operation, such as the solar system’s inability to support all loads and generator failures. The project also addressed the lack of adequate maintenance due to insufficient staff training.

Project Objectives:

  • Improve the sustainability and reliability of the hospital’s energy supply.
  • Identify and resolve solar system issues to ensure optimal operation.
  • Train local staff in basic maintenance to ensure the system’s longevity and efficiency.

Consultancy Conclusions:
The solar system at the Nixon Memorial Hospital is made of high-quality components and is in good condition. Basic maintenance would ensure its performance in the short and mid-term.
